Copiague School District is pleased to welcome Eric Dobmeier and Theodore Rohrs to its administrative team, bringing extensive experience in education, leadership, curriculum development and student programming. Mr. Dobmeier was appointed coordinator of fine arts and music, effective July 1. Mr. Rohrs was named coordinator of athletics, effective Aug. 25.

Since 2012, Mr. Dobmeier has served as the band director at Walter G. O’Connell Copiague High School, expanding the music program from 75 to 165 students and leading award-winning marching band, jazz band, pit orchestra and wind ensemble programs. His experience includes developing curriculum aligned with New York State standards, teaching instrumental and electronic music, coordinating large-scale productions and serving in leadership roles within the music education community.

Mr. Dobmeier holds a Bachelor of Music in Music Education from Ithaca College, a Master of Music in Instrumental Conducting from Syracuse University and an Advanced Graduate Certificate in Educational Leadership from Stony Brook University.

“I look forward to working collaboratively with students, staff and families to support a strong learning environment and create opportunities for every student to discover their talents, pursue their interests and reach their full potential,” Mr. Dobmeier said.

Mr. Rohrs brings extensive experience in physical education, athletics and school administration. He recently served as assistant director of physical education at Grace Church School in New York City, overseeing its physical education program, including curriculum development, scheduling, budgeting, staffing, faculty observations and professional growth. He has also directed after-school and summer athletics programs, managed large-scale student events and served on school policy and hiring committees.

Mr. Rohrs holds a Bachelor of Science in Physical Education and Master of Science in Physical Education from Adelphi University. He also holds professional certification in School Building Leader and School District Leader.
