Dear Parents/Guardians and Graduating Seniors,
Congratulations on your imminent graduation! This year’s graduation ceremony will take place on Thursday, June 26, 2025 at 7:00 PM on the Michael J. Grant Campus of Suffolk County Community College in Brentwood (Crooked Hill Road, Brentwood, New York) at the Suffolk Federal Credit Union Arena.
All graduating seniors will be required to travel by District provided buses to Suffolk County Community College. Students should arrive at the Walter G. O’Connell Copiague High School between 4:30 PM and 4:45 PM dressed for graduation with their caps, gowns, and tassels. Staff members will direct students to designated buses. Students should not bring anything with them except their cellphones as there will not be any place to store personal items. After the graduation ceremony is over, students will have the option of leaving with their guests or taking the District provided buses back to the Walter G. O’Connell Copiague High School. Once back at the high school, students are responsible for their own transportation home.
The Suffolk Federal Credit Union Arena is a climate controlled indoor facility. Each graduating senior will be given eight (8) tickets to share with family and friends who want to attend the ceremony. Additional tickets are not available. However, if a senior is not using all eight of his/her tickets, he/she may give the extra tickets to other seniors that might need more than the allotted amount.
Please note that balloons, signs, confetti cannons, and noise making devices such as airhorns are not permitted in the Suffolk Federal Credit Union Arena. If brought to the ceremony, these items will need to be left outside of the building.
The ceremony begins promptly at 7:00 PM. Any guests that arrive after 7:10 PM will not be permitted to enter the ceremony area and will not be seated. Guests will need to wait outside of the Suffolk Federal Credit Union Arena until the conclusion of the graduation ceremony. Our graduates deserve a ceremony free from interruption, so your cooperation is greatly appreciated.
Graduation pictures will be taken by Grad Images. Grad Images will photograph every graduate as he or she receives his/her diploma. As a result, graduation ceremony guests should not leave their seats during the ceremony to take pictures.
At the conclusion of the ceremony, family and friends of the graduates should immediately exit the Suffolk Federal Credit Union Arena. Students will meet their graduation guests outside in the designated meeting areas. The meeting areas will be assigned according to each graduate’s guidance counselor (see below).

Diplomas will be available for pick-up at Walter G. O’Connell Copiague High School on Friday, June 27, 2025 from 8:45 to 9:45 AM. They will not be distributed on the night of the graduation ceremony. Diplomas will NOT be mailed home. If a diploma is not picked up on Friday, June 27, 2025, it will be available for pick-up in the Main Office during the summer with proper identification.
On Wednesday, June 25, 2025 at 12:00 PM, all graduating seniors must come to the Walter G. O’Connell Copiague High School. On this day, we will be distributing caps/gowns and commencement tickets. If a graduating senior did not purchase a cap/gown, the senior must bring $53.00 in CASH to purchase their graduation attire.
All accounts for lost textbooks, equipment, supplies, and the like must be cleared prior to receipt of caps, gowns, commencement tickets, and diplomas. Students who do not pay fines or return equipment will not be permitted to walk for graduation. Seniors will be able to pay fines or return equipment on Wednesday, June 25, 2025.

Friday, June 27, 2025: Diploma Distribution at Walter G. O’Connell Copiague HS (8:45–9:45 AM)
