Third graders at Great Neck Road Elementary School are honing their mathematical skills this April. In Mr. Sliwowski’s class, students created their own fraction pizzas. Using ingredients that each represented different fractions, they made one-of-a-kind pizzas using amounts that added up to a whole pie. Ms. Mullins’ class used their own names to show off their math skills. Based on the number of letters in their names, the students wrote fractions and answered questions about the equal parts, vowels and consonants.
