As part of their science curriculum, third graders in Ms. Filiberto’s class at Great Neck Road Elementary School have discussed different types of forces. During a recent hands-on experiment called “Magnetic or Not?” students were asked to find five objects in the classroom they believed were magnetic and five objects that were not. The class recorded their predictions and received a magnet to test them. Walking around the class, students worked in groups to test whether their hypotheses were correct.
