Deauville Gardens East Celebrates Literacy

On March 20, Deauville Gardens East Elementary School held its annual literacy night for students in third through fifth grade. Students listened to the story “You Matter” by Christian Robinson and discussed the central message that all people are important and have value, regardless of their differences. Following the read aloud, students participated in activities including “Compliment Hot Potato,” a game where students give their classmates a compliment followed by the phrase “you matter.” Each student created their own affirmation poster with a photograph of themselves as the centerpiece. All students went home with two books, a copy of “Eraser,” a story about finding your purpose, and a second book of their choice.
