Congratulations to the combined Copiague/Lindenhurst girls wrestling team for their outstanding efforts this season. In the inaugural season, Copiague School District hosted girls from both Walter G. O’Connell Copiague High School and Lindenhurst High School to form the wrestling team. Rubi De La Cruz (Copiague, second place) and Mia Severino (Lindenhurst, first place) finished in the top of their respective weight classes and will now be representing the Copiague/Lindenhurst wrestling team in the New York State Girls Wrestling Championship Tournament.

In addition, the following athletes placed in the Suffolk County Championship on Feb. 10:

Jayla Cabrera – Lindenhurst, third place
Zoe Edmorin – Copiague, fourth place
Cherly Mejia – Copiague, fourth place
Arianna Melito – Lindenhurst, fourth place
