After Copiague Middle School hosted its annual science fair with over 60 student participants this month, Science Chair Dr. Daniel Leccese and science teacher Lenee Mason held an awards ceremony in the school’s cafeteria on Jan. 28 to announce the winners.

First place honors went to Isabella Rufrano for “Here Comes the Bloom.” Second place was awarded to Lenna Karwowska for “The Race of the Bioplastics” and Mya Nunez
for “Different Compost, Different Results.” Third place honors were given to Emilio Reyes for “Sports Drink Showdown,” Nicolette Orlando for “UV Rays: Lotion vs. Sprays” and Gabriella Agtuca for “Cleansed Crops… or Not.”

Congratulations to the following honorable mention winners: Jeasiah Guelee, Kaitlyn Lombardo, Kaylee Mierzejewski, Kamila Nieznalska Rebecca Molina and Damaris Astimbay.
