Copiague Middle School Students Learn Lifesaving Techniques
Copiague Middle School eighth graders had a firsthand look at how to perform lifesaving measures thanks to a visit from Copiague Fire Department Third Assistant Chief Nicholas Orlando on Dec. 11 and 18. Students in Marisa Perlongo’s health classes learned what to do when a person enters cardiac arrest and the importance of the first few minutes during this medical emergency. Chief Orlando then instructed classes on how to perform hands-on CPR. Students practiced on dummies to reinforce their skills, using a familiar song to keep 100-120 beats per minute.
