Third graders in Jeanie Mullins’ class at Great Neck Road Elementary School are practicing different strategies for multiplication. As part of the unit, they are learning about arrays, equal groups, skip counting, repeated addition and fact families to solve problems. To tie their lesson to Thanksgiving and autumn, the class created multiplication scarecrows incorporating the different learning strategies. Each student started with two factors and showed the products on their scarecrow creations.
