Sixth, Ninth Graders Get Acquainted During Orientation Days
To help familiarize students with their new educational surroundings and walk through their schedules, Walter G. O’Connell Copiague High School and Copiague Middle School held their respective ninth grade and sixth grade orientations recently.
Walter G. O’Connell Copiague High School hosted the incoming ninth graders and their parents on Aug. 28 with a welcome information session in the auditorium presented by Principal Joseph Agosta. Mr. Agosta introduced administrators, counselors, department chairs and class advisors. While parents remained in the auditorium, the ninth graders broke into smaller groups and met with student ambassadors. The ambassadors, who will serve as mentors throughout the school year, met with the freshmen for breakout sessions, bonding activities and a scavenger hunt around the building. To close out the day, the ninth graders received their schedules and locker assignments.
On Aug. 29, Copiague Middle School welcomed students and parents for an orientation conducted by Principal Andrew Lagnado. Following the presentation, students toured the building, tested out their lockers and reconnected with their classmates. They also met with their homeroom teachers to review schedules and ask questions. Students and staff are looking forward to the start of the new school year.
