Students in Colleen Gurtner’s leadership class at Walter G. O’Connell Copiague High School recently discussed the events of Sept. 11. Since 9/11 occurred before the students were born, they decided to get a firsthand account of the events. Each student interviewed a security guard who served in law enforcement during Sept. 11 to get their perspective. The students took a photo of the security guard and created a profile that is now hanging on the cafeteria window in the “Heroes in the Hall” display.
