In recognition of Black History Month in February, third graders at Deauville Gardens East Elementary School completed research projects and wrote biographies on a person who has made an impact on black history. After completing their research at the library and online, students created a “person” and wrote their biographical information inside. Students presented their reports to classmates to share information about some famous figures in black history such as Aretha Franklin, Michael Jackson, Dr. Martin Luther King Jr., Michelle and Barack Obama, Rosa Parks, Jackie Robinson, Althea Gibson and Dr. Mae Jemison.
