BOE Recognized for Service, Dedication
In celebration of School Board Recognition week, the Copiague School District Board of Education was honored for its service prior to the Oct. 16 meeting.
The Walter G. O’Connell Copiague High School Madrigals performed “Rise Up” with a solo by Elenys Diaz and “We Are the World,” led by choral director Gina Occhiogrosso. The National Art Honor Society presented a painting of an eagle with words of inspiration.
Superintendent of Schools Dr. Kathleen Bannon thanked the board for their advocacy and support of students. “You make Copiague a place where people want to work and students want to be educated,” she said.
Donations were made on behalf of the Copiague Board of Education. They included donations to the Everett E. Newman III Scholarship Fund, Cystic Fibrosis Ride for Life, Friends of Karen from Copiague Association of Principals. The Copiague Supervisory Association donated to Jillian’s Journey, Cystic Fibrosis Cycle for Life, while the Copiague Teachers Association made donations to the Circle of Love Food Bank and Our Lady of the Assumption Catholic Church Food Pantry. The Copiague Teachers Aides and Assistants Association contributed to the Everett E. Newman III Scholarship Fund and the Copiague PTA Council made a donation to the Everett E. Newman Scholarship Fund and provided refreshments for the evening.
