English as a New Language students enrolled in a college prep class at Walter G. O’Connell Copiague High School are ready to apply to jobs. During a recent lesson, they were introduced to examples of good and bad interviews, common interview questions and appropriate responses to interview questions. Students selected a job of their choice and went on “an interview” with a partner. The pairs practiced asking and responding to common interview questions. In addition, students completed a writing activity where they had to create dialogue between an interviewer and applicant. Many were creative when writing these conversations and then presented these conversations to the class.
