Copiague School District has named Christopher Porcellini as assistant principal of Copiague Middle School, effective Jan. 23.

Mr. Porcellini has been employed as a social studies teacher with the Copiague School District since 2004. He began teaching at Copiague Middle School but has spent much of his career at Walter G. O’Connell Copiague High School.

Mr. Porcellini holds a bachelor’s degree in history and a master’s degree in liberal studies, both from SUNY Stony Brook. He received a certificate of advanced study from The College of Saint Rose.

“As a secondary teacher in the Copiague School District for the past 19 years, I have had many opportunities to build relationships with my students, impacting their education and individual growth,” he said. “My vast experiences aside from teaching social studies in grades 7-12 have afforded me the opportunity to transition into a secondary administrator.”
