For the past four years, the Copiague Middle School English department has incorporated one of the district’s technology goals on cyber awareness and security into several lessons beginning in October. With the ever-increasing concern for the “digital footprints” of students, as well as Artificial Intelligence, librarian Dawn Koziarz and middle school English chairman Chris Gaudioso collaborated to conduct a series of lessons in the library. During the school year, all seventh and eighth grade English classes are scheduled to attend these presentations. The topics cover AI and its impact on education as well as society, the benefits and pitfalls of social media, and the “footprint” we leave when using all forms of technology.
