The sun was shining down as the Copiague community joined together to celebrate homecoming on Oct. 15. Eagle pride was on display throughout the day for a parade, football game and a celebration to honor the newest Hall of Achievement inductees.

Kicking off on Monday with spirit week celebrations, Friday’s pep rally set the stage for Saturday’s festivities. Lining up at Great Neck Road Elementary School, Copiague School District administrators, board of education members, school and community organizations joined together to parade to Walter G. O’Connell Copiague High School. The marching band led the way, followed by the members of the homecoming court and class floats.

Prior to the big game, the community had a chance to join together and have some fun with various bounce houses and food trucks behind the field. The Copiague Eagles were matched against the Connetquot T-Birds. Despite their best efforts, the Eagles couldn’t take home the win.

The homecoming court was introduced to start off the halftime celebrations and was followed by performances from the step team and varsity cheerleaders. To conclude the homecoming celebrations, the Hall of Achievement induction ceremony took place at the Walter G. O’Connell Copiague High School cafeteria on Oct. 16 evening. The newest inductees for the 2022 cohort were Gloria Hodgson, Anthony S. Pepe, Kenrick Thomas and Kia Wright.
