Second graders at Deauville Gardens West Elementary School conducted a hands-on experiment tied to their lessons on the different states of matter. After learning about solids, liquids and gases, the students predicted what would happen during an experiment when they put an antacid tablet into a plastic water bottle with a balloon on top. They quickly discovered that the tablet produced a gas that blew up the balloon. The students also created bulletin boards to identify solids, liquids and gases found throughout their classrooms.
