Students in Maritza Benavides’s class at Susan E. Wiley Elementary School in the Copiague School District showed off their artistic side by creating patriotic collages in honor of Veterans Day. The students also created a field of poppies to honor the veterans as a symbol of remembrance and hope for a peaceful future. The class read a poem and sang a song about veterans. After watching a video and reading a magazine on what it means to be a veteran, the students crafted their own thank-you cards for veterans.
