PSEG Mobile Unit Visits Copiague Elementary Schools

Fifth grade students from Copiague School District’s four elementary schools recently participated in an interactive safety presentation hosted by representatives from PSEG Long Island.
Using PSEG’s Mobile Electrical Safety Unit, a three-quarter-scale model of the electric distribution system, students learned important information about electricity, power lines and how to stay safe around electrical equipment. Through a series of engaging demonstrations conducted with the specialized mobile truck, students observed realistic scenarios that illustrated the dangers of electricity and the importance of making safe choices.
Presenters demonstrated what can happen when electrical lines encounter objects, explained how electricity travels and shared safety tips students can use both at home and in the community. The hands-on presentation encouraged participation and helped fifth graders better understand how to respond in emergency situations. The educational program provided students with valuable real-world knowledge while reinforcing important safety practices in an engaging and memorable way.
