Copiague Middle School Students Take Top Honors At EcoTech

Copiague Middle School students were recognized for their environmental awareness and writing excellence during the Reworld EcoTech Essay Competition Awards, held as part of the Town of Babylon’s annual Earth Day celebration.
The competition invited students to reflect on important environmental topics, encouraging them to think critically about sustainability, conservation and their role in protecting the planet. Through their essays, students demonstrated creativity, insight and a strong commitment to environmental stewardship.
Winners were honored during the Earth Day event on May 2, where they were celebrated alongside community leaders, educators and families. The recognition highlighted not only their writing achievements but also their dedication to making a positive impact on the environment.
Congratulations to the Copiague Middle School winners: seventh grader Isabella Herrera, first place; eighth grader Lenna Karwowska, second place; eighth grader Daniel Fernandez, third place; seventh grader Aylin Duran, fourth place; and seventh grader Emily Diedrick, fifth place.
The Town of Babylon’s Earth Day celebration brought together community members to promote environmental awareness through a variety of activities, exhibits and educational opportunities.
