Deauville Gardens East Students Are ‘Wild About Reading’

Deauville Gardens East Elementary School held its family literacy night on Dec. 4. Families gathered for a fun and engaging evening themed “Wild About Reading.” The jungle-inspired event welcomed students in kindergarten through second grade and their families for a celebration of literacy, creativity and togetherness.
Dressed in their coziest pajamas, students engaged in a variety of interactive activities, including, shared reading time with family members, coloring stations and movement breaks. Each class participated in an interactive read-aloud of “Giraffes Can’t Dance,” which inspired conversations about confidence, perseverance and the joy of reading.
To extend the excitement at home, every student received a copy of the book, along with jungle-themed pencil holders and bookmarks. The night provided an opportunity for students, families and staff to connect while reinforcing a love of reading.
