The second graders at Susan E. Wiley Elementary School traveled around the world, virtually, in December to learn about the winter holidays celebrated around the world. The students each created suitcases to hold all of their materials as they travel around the world in each lesson.

Their journey began with a plane ticket and a flight to the country. The students took video tours of each country and learned about the culture and how they celebrate the holidays. Students then compared and contrasted it to their own personal holiday celebrations.

Following each visit, the students receive a stamp on their passport before visiting the next country. Students have learned about Diwali, Hanukkah, Ramadan, Kwanzaa, Chinese New Year and Christmas in Mexico, Italy, Germany, Australia and France. Following their world travels, students created stockings that featured their wish lists for the holiday season.
