Lessons on 9/11 at Copiague Middle School

9/11 Presentation thumbnail249521
On Sept. 11, seventh and eighth graders from Copiague Middle School heard a firsthand account of 9/11 from Mr. Jim Jacobs, who was a New York City fireman for 32 years, where he served as battalion chief.

For the last 15 years, he has volunteered as an ambassador for the Tunnels to Towers Foundation, visiting schools across Long Island to share his story. During the assembly, Mr. Jacobs gave a presentation of the historical developments of 9/11 and shared his own personal story of that day. Students were given a chance to ask questions at the end.

In addition to the assemblies, some social studies classes were able to visit a hallway gallery walk, where they read and discussed how events unfolded, analyzing a timeline of Sept. 11, 2001.
