About the Board of Education

The Board is the official policymaking body of the school district. It consists of seven community residents who are elected to serve overlapping terms of three years. Individuals who serve on the Board receive no salary for their service provided to the community. Voting for school board representatives takes place on the same day as the annual school budget vote.

Board of Education Mission Statement

Within the culturally and ethnically diverse community that is Copiague, the public schools occupy a unique position. It is our responsibility, in partnership with parents and the community, to enable every student to reach high levels of individual academic achievement, to acquire the sophisticated skills necessary for life and work, and to become informed, concerned citizens of a rapidly changing, interdependent society.
