Step right up and try your hand at literacy-based games at the carnival-themed Literacy Night at Susan E. Wiley Elementary School. Students in grades 3-5, along with their families, were invited for a special evening to come together to celebrate their love of literacy on Feb. 1.

The literacy carnival was organized by the literacy team and featured different booths for students to visit, all comprised of different phonetic and comprehension games. Students had to match different cards to words in the ducks in the pond booth. After naming different homophones, the students were able to try to ring toss game at another booth.

Students played the beanbag toss game by naming literary elements. At the basketball catch booth, students named different parts of sentences and words. To play tick-tac-toe, students received beanbags when they identified different synonyms and antonyms. Each student left the carnival with a gift bag and a book.
