Great Neck Road Elementary School serves approximately 440 students from kindergarten through grade five. As a school community, it is our responsibility, in partnership with parents, families and the larger community, to provide our students with educational experiences and opportunities to reach their highest potential academically, socially and emotionally. Through the collaborative efforts of our well-trained and highly qualified staff and child-centered philosophy, we provide a welcoming, safe and supportive environment which inspires our students to develop critical thinking skills, embrace diversity, and become responsible citizens prepared for the future. 

As reading is fundamental to the learning process, Guided Reading is the foundation of our Balanced Literacy program which is used to instruct each individual student at his or her appropriate level. Math is taught by allowing students to engage in problem solving, experimentation, and real-world application of concepts. Additionally, students are provided opportunities to explore new interests by participating in clubs and numerous school activities throughout the year. 

At Great Neck Road, we recognize the importance of the home and school connection. This partnership is fundamental to student success. As a result, our staff members actively collaborate with the Parent Teacher Association (PTA) and families to support our students’ growth and development inside and outside of the classroom.
