Deauville Gardens East Elementary School recently held a family literacy night for students in grades three through five. After listening to the read aloud “After the Fall: How Humpty Dumpty Got Back Up Again” by Dan Santat, the students participated in a paper airplane STEM challenge. In the read aloud, Humpty showed persistence and determination in creating a paper airplane because he is too afraid to climb the wall again and misses being close to the birds. They created a paper airplane and tested it out. The students then had to adjust their plane in some way and test it out again to see how their adjustment effected the flight of the plane.
