On Feb. 12, the Walter G. O’Connell Copiague High School ceramics students held their first “Souper Bowl” event. Ceramics students in Mrs. Layden’s Ceramics 1 classes each made handmade bowls that were processed and glazed. The cafeteria staff donated three different soups to help with the efforts in raising money for the Eagle’s Nest food pantry to fill some empty bowls. Guests each paid a small fee, picked a bowl and filled it with the soup. The event raised more than $300 to benefit the Copiague community.
