At Great Neck Road, students are becoming ambassadors of good decision-making in their school.

The Students Against Destructive Decisions Club is currently made up of 17 fifth-grade students. The club focuses on keeping safe and making positive, healthy choices, such as wearing your seatbelt and saying no to tobacco and alcohol.  Students sign a contract pledging to make the right choices and also to spread these messages throughout their school and community.

The club also focuses on helping those in need, both locally and nationally. They work together on different fundraising projects throughout the year during their meetings. They are currently designing posters and campaigning their school to get involved with the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society’s Pennies for Patients program. Later this year, the club will work on creating dashboard critters for the seniors at Walter G. O’Connell Copiague High School to remind them to make safe choices each time they enter their vehicles.
