Third grade student-artists in Mrs. Embleton’s class at Deauville Gardens East Elementary School used markers, patterns and their imagination to design their own creative creatures. Students in Mrs. Layden’s workshop class at Walter G. O’Connell Copiague High School put their newly learned sewing skills to the test by recreating the drawings into three-dimensional works of art.

The high schoolers then created adoption certificates for each of the dolls so the younger students could take their creations home. On March 2, students from Deauville Gardens East were able to see their creations turned to life thanks to several students from Walter G. O’Connell High School.

Ms. Embleton set up a nursey for the third grade students to adopt their creative creature. Additional stuffed creatures were also designed and created to be donated to Deauville Garden East School’s counselors to assist students in their social/emotional learning.
