Copiague girls varsity basketball coach Kia Wright was recently inducted into the Suffolk County Sports Hall of Fame. While competing at Copiague, she earned a spot as one of the top scorers on Long Island, amassing 2148 points in her high school career.

She was an All-Long Island and All-State player who helped the Eagles win two Long Island titles and a state championship in 2003.
Upon graduating from high school, she played her college career at St. John’s University, where she was a four-time Big East player and the only player in school history to score more than 1,500 points and more than 400 assists in a career.

Upon graduating from St. John’s, she competed at the professional ranks for Puerto Rico and Croatia, and in 2015 was inducted into the St. John’s Athletic Hall of Fame. To this day, she has continued her love for the game of basketball in the capacity of a coach. She has been an assistant coach for the Adelphi Panthers and is currently in her fifth year as a coach for the Copiague Eagles girls basketball program.
