Happiness was the theme for the literacy night celebration held at Deauville Gardens East Elementary School on April 6. Students in all grades, along with their parents, were invited to come dressed in their pajamas and joined together in their love of reading.

The hallways of the school were adorned with emojis and happiness quotes. In the classrooms, each student had a copy of “Layla’s Happiness” and the teacher read the story aloud so they could enjoy the book together. Afterward, students created self-portraits and wrote about what happiness means to them. The completed portraits will be hung in the hallway to spread happiness throughout.
