Walter G. O’Connell Copiague High School junior Joanna Rivera has been chosen for the New York State Retired School Administrators and Supervisors Award. She was nominated by school counselor Colleen Darge. Rivera is the president of the Class of 2023, president of Spanish club, president of soccer club, treasurer of Madrigals choir and treasurer of the school’s food pantry. She is an active participant in drama club, global ambassadors, Shakespeare club, key club, mindfulness Mondays, audio video club and one mind club. “With all that she is involved, she also takes her academics seriously and has a current GPA of a 90.49,” said Darge. “Joanna is a kind, friendly young lady who exemplifies the standards of NYSRSAS.”
