The fourth graders in Mrs. Cranmer’s, Mrs. Spizuco’s and Mrs. Zecha’s classes at Deauville Gardens East Elementary School read “Balloons Over Broadway” and then created their own balloon float projects. Students learned about Tony Sarg, the true story of the puppeteer behind the Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade, and then got to work planning and brainstorming their balloon floats. Students had to follow the design and engineering process to create and test their balloon floats. Students were able to use materials of their choice to build and bring their floats to life.
