Second grade students at Deauville Gardens West Elementary School recently read “The Creepy Carrots” and connected the story to a STEAM activity. Students identified polygons and discussed with a partner its sides and corners. Students sketched their enclosures and using popsicle sticks and Play-Doh, they engineered an enclosure to keep the carrots safe. Students presented their enclosures in small groups and described their polygon designs to the class.
