On Sept. 26, Walter G. O’Connell Copiague High School hosted the Tournament of Bands for the first time in two years. The day saw 13 bands returning to competition including: Copiague, Walt Whitman, Division Avenue, Lindenhurst, Roslyn, Mineola, Brentwood, Hicksville, Sachem, Malverne, Huntington, Midland Park and Floral Park high schools. The event attracted more than 1,000 people and was a great sense of pride for the district and community. “It was so great to be making music again with these kids; we’re so excited for the season ahead,” said Walter G. O’Connell Copiague High School band director Eric Dobmeier.
