New Principal Takes the Helm at Great Neck Road

Copiague School District has appointed Tamika Eason as principal of Great Neck Road Elementary School, effective Aug. 18. Ms. Eason replaces Karla Cangelosi, who has moved to a new administrative role in the district.

Ms. Eason has served as assistant principal at Walter G. O’Connell Copiague High School since 2010. Prior to that, she was an assistant principal at William Floyd High School from 2008-2010. She also held administrative roles in Westbury School District and was an elementary school teacher in Westbury and in New York City Public Schools.

Ms. Eason holds a bachelor’s degree in English, a master’s degree in elementary education as well as a master’s degree in leadership and technology, all from Adelphi University. She holds New York State certifications in elementary education and school administration and supervision.

“After serving the Copiague community as assistant principal of the Walter G. O’ Connell High School for more than 10 years, I am excited to be continuing this partnership with the students, parents, faculty and staff of Great Neck Road,” Ms. Eason said. “As an educator who has served in both primary and secondary school settings, I have partnered with all stakeholders to cultivate academic and social experiences which foster growth and success for students on all grade levels. I am excited to bring this experience to Great Neck Road Elementary School.”
