Following their study of Newton’s Third Law of Motion, the students in the elementary summer program at Deauville Gardens West Elementary School created their own balloon rocket racers to test the law. With a body made of cardboard and Styrofoam balls for wheels, the students attached a balloon and a straw to test how far their racers would travel once the balloons were inflated. After testing their racers, students talked about ways to improve their designs to make their vehicles travel further.
