New Assistant Superintendent Appointed
The district has appointed Susan Kanuika as assistant superintendent for finance and operations, effective July 1. She replaced Jeffery White, who has served in the position since 2019.
Ms. Kanuika has worked in the Copiague School District since 2012. She began her career in Copiague as a senior account clerk and moved to the position of accountant in November 2012. In 2017, she was named an assistant business administrator. Some of her duties in the district included managing the district’s $131 million budget, leading the business office team and budget development and management.
Ms. Kanuika holds a bachelor’s degree in accounting, a Master of Business Administration in finance, and an advanced certificate in school district business leadership from LIU/Post. She is also a member of the New York State Association of Business Officials and the New York State Association of Municipal Purchasing Officials.
“Copiague is a wonderful place to grow my career with a supportive team of administrators, staff and teachers,” Ms. Kanuika. “I am excited to start a new chapter here.”
