Copiague School District recognized the hard work and dedication of the members of its board of education during its Oct. 19 meeting. The New York State School Board Association designates the week of Oct. 19-23 as School Board Recognition Week.

While the typical presentation of donations, artwork and musical selections was unable to take place due to current restrictions, Superintendent of Schools Dr. Kathleen Bannon thanked the board of education for its hard work and dedication to the students of Copiague and also read letters presented by school district associations echoing those sentiments.

The Copiague Teachers Association donated to a local food pantry and Copiague School District’s food pantry on behalf of the board. The Copiague Supervisors donated to the Copiague School District’s food pantry, and Copiague Association of Principals gave a donation to Friends of Karen, an organization which benefits children with cancer or other life-threatening diseases. Copiague Teaching Aides and Assistants made a donation to the Brittney Walsh Memorial Scholarship in the board’s name, while the Copiague clerical unit donated to Make-A-Wish of Suffolk County in the board’s name.
