Celebrating Success

Even though the school closure forced the cancellation of many art and music events, Copiague School District would still like to acknowledge the efforts of its hardworking artists and musicians.

This year, districtwide, more than 300 students were registered to attend NYSSMA as soloists, including close to two dozen at the All-State level.

The Walter G. O’Connell Copiague High School Madrigal Singers and MS Wind Ensemble were registered to attend NYSSMA Majors in May. The Madrigals were also scheduled to compete at the Music in the Parks competition in May at Six Flags New England.

Copiague had 15 students selected to the Tri-M Music Honor Society and nine selected to the National Art Society. Students from Susan E. Wiley Elementary and the middle school had work selected and displayed at the Colors of Long Island Art Show in Stony Brook.

Twelve students from Ms. Ciccotto’s class in the high school had portfolios prepared for critique and placement at the Long Island Media Arts Show in March.
