It is the goal of the school counselors at Copiague Middle School to aid students in achieving academic, career, and personal/social development goals. These goals are met in a variety of ways throughout the school year. Academic success is aided by school counselors consulting with parents and teachers to insure that student’s academic struggles are recognized and support is offered when needed. Regularly scheduled meetings provide communication needed between administrators, teachers, and counselors to be certain students are working to their potential. The counseling department at Copiague Middle School is designed to be both preventive and developmental. This is achieved in a variety of ways. Students meet with the counselors to discuss topics such as bullying and high school course selections. School counselors also meet with students individually or in small groups as needed or requested to solve friendship issues or peer conflicts. Students, staff and parents may call upon Mrs. Solomon, Mrs. Walker and Mrs. Lewis for an appointment to be scheduled at their convenience. They may be reached by phone at 631-842-4011 x320 or x322. Our counselors are very proud of their profession and stay current in the practices through their memberships in associations such as Nassau, Suffolk and NY State School Counselors associations. Mrs. Solomon serves on the executive board of Western Suffolk Counselors Association as the Vice President. The counselors also participate in professional development by attending conferences and networking with other colleagues in the field.
