Welcome to the Copiague Middle School English Department!
Our mission is to foster an educational environment that will make our students life-long learners. We offer a curriculum that focuses on incorporating innovative approaches to meet the needs of all students. By crafting lessons that center on reading and writing activities to strengthen the critical thinking skills of our students, they will be better prepared to not only meet the challenges before them, but exceed them. Our curriculum, which is based on the Next-Generation standards, infuses these standards into our curriculum mapping in order to guide our students toward meeting the College and Career-Ready standards. Our students will be instructed through challenging technology-rich lessons that are both engaging and stimulating. We encourage our students to read every day and they may choose a book to read at home by either visiting our school library or the Copiague Public Library. Reading everyday will not only increase vocabulary but also reading comprehension and foster a love for reading.
