Fourth-graders in Elizabeth Baird’s class at Susan E. Wiley Elementary School recently completed “The Great Candy Corn Experiment,” learning about the steps in the scientific method during a hands-on lesson. The students put candy corns in eight different solvents and created a scientific question. They then formed a hypothesis, deciding which of the solvents the candy corn would dissolve in first. The experiment lasted three days and the students were excited to come to class each day and check on the results.
