Great Neck Road Elementary School took on a schoolwide recycled art project in April. During art classes, the students painted rocks to resemble fish, inspired by the book “Only One You” by Linda Kranz.

Led by art teacher Meghan Haughney, each student created his or her unique rock, which was then placed in the outdoor rock garden in early May. The rock garden, which adorns the school’s entrance, is shaped like a river to mimic the fish rocks swimming in the water and features a sign that reads “there’s only one you in this great big world.” The rock garden is also dedicated to the memory of former Great Neck Road teacher Carol Gamba.
