Driver’s education students at Walter G. O’Connell Copiague High School had a hands-on lesson in the dangers of distracted driving and driving under the influence thanks to a program presented by the Suffolk County Sheriff’s Department on April 25. The S.T.O.P.P.E.D. program offers a simulated experience for young drivers to show the effects of distracted driving and driving under the influence. Sobriety tests were used to teach consequences of driving under the influence of alcohol.
