Good morning. This is Dr. Kathleen Bannon Superintendent of Copiague Schools. At approximately 10:30 this morning, Walter G. O’Connell Copiague High School received a phone call of a bomb threat. As per protocol, administration immediately contacted the Suffolk County Police Department. Students were evacuated from the building and were safely housed on the field near the Copiague Middle School as police, district security and administration conducted a thorough search of the facility. Once the building was determined safe and there was no evidence to substantiate the threat, the students and staff reentered the building and resumed regular classes. The safety of our students and staff is top priority and we will continue to enforce all security protocol. Thank you for your cooperation.
