Love of Reading Travels All Around the World

World1

It was a night of international travel for students at Great Neck Road when they held a “Reading Around the World” literacy night celebration on Jan. 25.

With their passports in hand, students and their parents rotated throughout the building to different activities. In the cafeteria, Principal Karla Cangelosi and Assistant Principal Janine Proulx served a delicious dinner of quesadillas and rice with various toppings.

Two classrooms were transformed into a tropical retreat as students learned how to hula dance. In the library, students received their own set of maracas after performing the Mexican hat dance, while the north gym featured Irish step dancing lessons.

Each time the students rotated to a new station, their passport books were stamped. At the end of the evening, all the students gathered in the gymnasium for a read aloud.
