Deauville Gardens East held a pajama literacy night for kindergarten, first- and second-grade students on Oct. 26.

Themed “Reading Is Spooktacular,” the students had a chance to spend the night with Copiague teachers reading “The Little Old Lady Who Was Not Afraid of Anything” by Linda Williams, and were also treated to the movie adaptation of the book.

While the students were busy reading, parents attended a brief presentation on “Literacy in the Early Grades.” They learned ways to support their child’s reading and writing development at home and then they joined the children in the classroom to participate in a craft related to the story.
